Welcome to Virtuosi Tasmania

Bringing beautiful music to all points of Tasmania

What we do

Virtuosi Tasmania provides an opportunity for the wonderful players of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (TSO), other fine Tasmanian musicians and members of mainland orchestras to perform in smaller groups - and not simply string quartets. We also assist them to bring you chamber music written for larger and diverse ensembles from every section of the Orchestra - percussion, strings, woodwinds, brass and more.

Where we do it

We bring fine chamber music to regional Tasmania. To this end we present over sixteen concerts a year in unusual and interesting locations throughout the north and south of Tasmania. Our ensembles have played in stately heritage homes, shearing sheds, apple sheds, limestone caves, art galleries and wineries.

Why we do it

Members of large orchestras are often looking for the different experience of playing in small ensembles. We provide such players the opportunity to present to enthusiastic audiences around the state. Bringing them together is the work of our management committee of professional musicians and volunteers under the inspired direction of our Musical Manager, Jennifer Owen (you can read Jenny's bio on the About us page). This delightful synergy helps guarantee Virtuosi Tasmania will continue bringing quality music to regional Tasmania.
