Concerts for 2018

So you thought our offerings in 2017 were exciting and varied? Then look out for 2018. Here's a taste of what's in store. Note the venues are yet to be decided. Mark the dates in your diary and consider a 2018 Season Ticket. Early birds can buy a 2018 Season Ticket - any six concerts for $120. Tickets are available from the Secretary or call 0409 655 024.

March 16-19: Harp, Trombone and Strings
Featuring Meriel Owen on harp with others yet to be confirmed. This concert will include the Handel Harp Concerto (here is a taste on YouTube) and Adagio (trombone solo) by Albinoni.
May 5-6: Violin Viola Duo
Miranda Carson (violin) and Douglas Coghill (viola) are set to excite with a program including the Handel-Halvorssen Passacaglia (have a sneak preview on YouTube).
May 23-30: Clarendon Piano Trio
This Trio includes Jonathon Bekes, TSO’s brilliant new cellist. They will present Ravel (hear it on YouTube), Beethoven E flat, Haydn E minor, Mendelssohn C minor Piano Trios (and more). Clarendon Trio have been selected to perform in the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, to be held in July 2018, so we will be priviledged to hear advanc preformances from their competition repertoire.
June 10-11: Clarinet Quintets
Andrew Seymour (clarinet), Yue Hong Cha & Frances Davies (violin), Douglas Coghill (viola) and Martin Penicka (cello) will perform Brahms (hear part 1 of the first movement) and Mozart Clarinet quintets.
September 6-9: Harp plus!
Musicians Meriel Owen (harp), Jennifer Owen (violin), Andrew Seymour (clarinet) and others. The music will include Ravel Introduction and Allegro for Harp, clarinet, flute and string quartet (here's a taste on YouTube ) and Debussy Danses Sacree et Profane for harp and string quartet.
October 6-7: Much Ado About Contrasts!
Meriel Owen (piano), Andrew Seymour (clarinet) and Jennifer Owen (violin) will perform Korngold Much Ado About Nothing, Suite for Violin and Piano; Bartok Contrasts for violin, clarinet and piano (have a listen on YouTube), and; Poulenc Sonata for clarinet and piano.
Jazz: Dates TBC
Amongst other things, Matt Ives and Friends will play Bolling's Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio (hear it on YouTube).
